THE HOLISTIC ACTOR 19th – 21st September 08

“Holistic” meaning whole; the emotional, physical, mental and spritual.

A holistic approach to acting, this weekend explores the emotional , the physical and mental life and well being of the actor.  We will focus on our personal discovery by working through the 5 elements, sourcing our relationships to our bodies/organs and our voice and fine-tuning our emotional sensitivity.

There will be an array of excercises to get in touch with the “inner” actor and unlocking the creativity from within. Exercises ranging from Gabriel Roth’s  5 rhythms, Chi-Kung, Yoga, singing and voice work, breathing, movement, storytelling and acting.

By developing the actor holistically we can discover the subtleties of our acting, find new sounds, new voices, movements, new depths and disciplines.

POETIC BODY 3rd – 5th October 08

What is poetry? It is the use of words in a lyrical way, descriptive, evoking emotion and creating worlds. So is the body capable of being the storyteller, the poet.

Through exercises using Le Coq’s theories of movement, dancing the elements, finding different rhythms through your body, we will strive for an eclectic movement vocabulary. We will “sweat our prayers” and dive deep into inner rhythms. We will explore and encounter new worlds through music, create moods and build pictures with our bodies.

This is a weekend that will push, inspire and challenge the actor to use his/her body in new ways and to get more in touch with his/her inner movement vocabulary.

Do you have the discipline to be a free spirit? – Gabriel Roth
